The nydus network

   The Nydus Network

Back in SC1, the Nydus canal was frequently used to join up the Zerg's expansions with his main, to quickly deploy defilers/lings to save expansions.  With the introduction of the new Starcraft 2 structure, the Nydus Network, what once was a purely defensive structure, is now a critical offensive building, that too few players exploit.

The Nydus Network immediately after Lair

The Nydus Network costs costs 150 minerals, 200 gas, and has a build time of 50 seconds: just a few seconds faster than a roach.  The second your lair is finished, a Nydus Network could be built for a bit less than the cost of two hydralisks.  With its ability to pop ANYWHERE you have vision, its almost imperative to get it ASAP. Getting the Nydus network into play as soon as possible has many benefits.

Many players often over commit their Nydus attack.  They would load every unit in their network and do a major "doom drop" in their opponent's main.  This has disastrous consequences (especially vs P.) because it leaves the zerg player open to attack.  It is useful to get into the mindset that the Nydus worm is a great harass tool, and not meant for an all out means to kill your opponent.

Zerg VS Terran

! ) Starting out you have to take a few things into consideration.

  1. The map, on certain maps you can totally alter your build due to the size of the map / scout timing / ect.

  2. Is the player favored vs me or not? The favored system is pretty accurate, although you can win alot vs alot of your favored opponents, it still will be a fight !

Guide detailing Zerg upgrades vs Terran

By a 6 year SC1 Veteran

Hi there, it's me again. As promised, here is my write-up about Zerg ground upgrades vs Terran.

If you haven't actually read the ZvP upgrades, I strongly suggest you to do so now.  Just look through the Guides section.  Just like last time, I am going to leave out the heavy number crunching, as it really isn't the important "take home" message I am trying to convey. As usual, I've highlighted the numbers, but I do suggest you read through the entire article.

I've noticed in some of the games I've watched, the Zerg sometimes gets Level 1 missile attack before Level 1 Carapace against the Terran.  In this write-up, I will try and explain the details of upgrading, and hopefully by the end I will have convinced you of the best method to go about upgrading.

Build order: fast reaper rush - tvt

BUILD ORDER: Fast Reaper Rush vs Terran

This is a very agressive and fast rush that can be used in a TvT, specially if your oponent goes for marines early game. Here's the build order:

Fast Reaper Build Order

  • 10 Barracks
  • 11 First gas and supply
  • 3 SCVs on gas as soon as possible
  • Wait 50 gas then Tech Lab on Barracks
  • Build your first Reaper as soon as Tech Lab is up (waypoint to your opponent's natural expand)
  • Second gas
  • More Reapers to your taste

Why is this good versus Terran?

Reapers in a small group destroy marines. They shoot very fast - despite having a shorter range: 4.5 instead of marine's 5.0 - Soon after the marines are dead you can havoc his supply depots very fast with the D8 charges.

Quote from Buzzjuice: This strategy is more effective on maps like Desert Oasis or Blistering Sands. The very long distance for ground units makes it difficult for marines, allowing YOU more time to build up reapers. At the same time, the distance, in terms of cliffs, is very short so you can easily send in Reapers very quickly to their base and do some economy damage or harrass. Again Reapers are good, but are much better at hit and run. Strong micro does a lot to affect how effective Reapers become in combat.

INTRODUCTION

Hello everyone, this will be my first post and a guide for this site! First i must say the site is really great! Hope it becomes a success. On with the guide.

So all you Zerg players out there having problems defeating other Zerg players who's Roach building, this is the guide for you.
I have included a Replay to show exactly what to do.

ROACH BUILD ORDER

Step 1 Get the right build order. Get 14 drones then build Spawning Pool. When the Pool is about 1/3 done build Extractor. Send a scouting drone at the same time you do this so you can find out what the other player is doing.

Step 1.5 Don't forget to put 3 drones on the Extractor once its complete.
